More than four acres of lavender is a stunning sight to behold, and plays background to much more besides at Wexford Lavender Farm. While you relax surrounded by the most divine scent, let the children loose at the play area, before trying out a quad barrel train ride and enchanted woodland walks.

If you’re planning a day trip, you won’t want to miss this family review with practical tips and helpful details on how to get the most from your visit.

Wexford Lavender Farm

Wexford Lavender Farm opened in 2014, but the farm has been in the family since 1950. Registered with the Organic Trust Ireland, all the lavender is grown organically with no chemical fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides.

More than 4 acres of the delightfully scented lavender are available to visit, with a beautiful array of colours from pale pink to mauve and dark purple.

Our Family’s Visit to Wexford Lavender Farm

We discovered Wexford Lavender Farm driving through Gorey on a family holiday almost five years ago, and have returned many times since.

Every year we make it our business to visit this hidden gem because all five kids (ranging in age from 1-10 years) love it.

Tickets

We visited on a Tuesday, and always visit midweek during the summer months as it’s always quieter. Note: they close on Mondays (excluding Mondays)

Prior to Covid, you could just arrive and park, but now it is advised to pre-book parking online 24 hours ahead of your visit to guarantee parking during July and August, their busier months.

Parking is €5 per car and that is the only fee incurred during your visit unless you opt to buy some lavender goodies and/or sweet treats.

Have Your Say

Don’t miss the chance to have your say! We’re looking for parents to get involved and give their feedback on all aspects of family life.

Transport and Parking

We drove and there is lots of parking, including an overflow car park for busier days.

What to Expect

Wexford Lavender Farm for things to do in Leinster - Mykidstime

The Lavender Farm is small and will take less than two hours to go around and do everything.

There is a children’s outdoor wooden play area, quad barrel train ride (extra charge), a woodland walk (not buggy/wheelchair friendly) which is a 1km looped walk with rustic playground equipment, fairies, and a life-sized outdoor snakes and ladders game.

At the entrance there is a visitor information centre, a café with a takeaway menu with seating and picnic benches available, and a small gift shop.

Food Options

The cafe on-site serves a small selection of hot foods and homemade treats which I can personally recommend, but Gorey is a short drive away with lots of food options to choose from. Katie Daly’s is a fab restaurant that we’ve visited many times.

Nearby Places of Interest

Gorey is a great location for a staycation with young families. You have Courtown nearby, The Seal Sanctuary, Kia Ora Mini Farm, Glenavon Japanese Gardens, Wells House, The National Heritage Park, Secret Valley Wildlife Park, Johnstown Castle and of course lots of beautiful beaches.

Highlights of Our Visit

We loved seeing the beds and beds of lavender and all the bees hard at work.

Anything That Could Be Better?

No, we love it as it is. Over the years Wexford Lavender Farm has added new attractions and extended the playground, which is lovely to see. They are always upgrading the small farm.

Our Final Verdict

I would 100% recommend a visit. It is a great place to explore with kids and let them run free, especially considering the price. It’s best suited for young families as tweens and teens may not appreciate its beauty.

I’d give Wexford Lavender Farm 5 out of 5
