A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… Well, actually in a galaxy closer to home, and closer in time, Star Wars and LEGO fans will be glad to hear that Disney+ has announced a brand new LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special coming in November!

The first ever LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special will debut on Disney+ this November, celebrating the Wookiee holiday Life Day.

Disney made the announcement on Twitter giving some sneak previews of scenes from the upcoming feature.

You may not know about (or be too young to remember!) the infamous 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special, which first introduced the celebration of Life Day on Chewbacca’s home planet, Kshyyyk.

The special was much ridiculed over the years, so much so that George Lucas banned it from TV and from video. It does, however, have the distinction of bringing one of Star War’s most iconic characters to the screen for the first time – bounty hunter, Boba Fett.

What Will Feature in the New LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special?

Life Day 2020 will bring more recent characters Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewie, Rose and droids together for a fabulous feast

The story follows on from the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, when Rey leaves her friends to prepare for Life Day. Visiting a mysterious Jedi Temple with BB-8, Rey finds herself in a cross-timeline adventure through past moments in Star Wars history, all in LEGO form!

She meets old Jedis such as Yoda, Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and has to try to make it back in time for the special feast. (We haven’t yet heard if Baby Yoda will make an appearance!)

The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special is produced by Atomic Cartoons, the LEGO Group and Lucasfilm. Catch the feature on Thursday 17th November, only on Disney+.
